Picpus is a station of the Paris Métro, named after the district of Picpus and the Boulevard de Picpus.
About 1575, the Rue de Picpus was a road crossing the area of Pique-Puce (flee prick). The Lazare brothers thought that the origin of the name came from an epidemic producing sores resembling insect bites. It was treated miraculously by a monk who settled in the village. He therefore took the name of Pique-Puce (?).
The station has the additional name of Courteline, named after Georges Courteline (1858-1929), whose real name was George Moinaux. He was a French author of satirical comedies such as: Les Gaietés de l'escadron, la Paix chez soi, Le Commissaire est bon enfant.
The station is located under the Avenue de Saint-Mandé, to the west of the crossroads with the Boulevard de Picpus.
There is only one access, located on the southern side of the Avenue de Saint-Mandé .
