Pilotdrift is an indie pop band from Texarkana, Texas.
[edit] Background
The band was formed in 2004 by Kelly Carr, Micah Dorsey, Jay Budzilowski, Ben Rice, and Eric Russell. After touring in and around Texarkana, Tyler, and Dallas, their self-released album, Iter Facere, was discovered by Tim DeLaughter and Julie Doyle of The Polyphonic Spree. Pilotdrift was the first band to be signed to The Polyphonic Spree's Good Records label, and performed several shows with the group.
In early 2005, Pilotdrift was taken on tour with Eisley, a band from nearby Tyler, Texas.
Their second album, Water Sphere was released in September of 2005. It included several remastered versions of tracks from Iter Facere, as well as five new songs. Shortly after the release of Water Sphere, Micah Dorsey chose to leave the group to pursue other interests, and was replaced by John David Blagg. In early 2006, Pilotdrift accompanied Supergrass on a North American tour.
Since the band's beginning, it has gained popularity all over the United States and parts of Canada.
