Plague metal
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Plague Metal is a combination of Norwegian black metal and Swedish melodic death metal. The genre is similar to blackened death metal, but more defined. The genre name was originally coined from putting together the genre names black metal and death metal, or more simply, black death. This, in turn, became known as plague metal when the lyrics started to take an apocalyptic/plague/slaughter style and the musical aspects of the music became darker, more menacing, and more like death itself.
The bands Recrudescence and Invictus are both plague metal bands, though Invictus is slightly more progressive metal.
