Plajia are a Canadian ambient rock band from Montreal, Canada.
Started in 1999 as a solo project for Patrick Pleau, the experimental and therapeutic project that would in a strange twist of fate, in 2001, become the naturally amusing creation phenomenon, known for 2 years now as, Plajia, begins. This followed by the previous project Melodia and Pillowphobia (Patrick Pleau) as well as former Cafone (JF Lefoll and Denis Charbonneau).
Patrick Pleau is the primary songwriter of the band using acoustic guitar, electric guitar or piano as a starting point for the main melody. Patrick is known for his caring of catchyness, versatility and well structured songs avoiding any cheezy sounding pieces. Patrick is also a big user of 12 strings guitar as well as 1960s and 1970s musical gear such as Rickenbacker 360/12 electric guitar, Gibson Epiphone 12-strings electric guitar, Electro-Harmonix Deluxe Memory Man delay pedal and sampled virtual instruments emulating classic Organ B3, Fender Rhodes, Mellotron played via MIDI controllers.
