[edit] Places and directions

Is there any official confirmation of the titles "Peak Province" and "Desert Province"? I was using a map printed in Official Nintendo Magazine, and whilst it printed the other province names, it didn't include those. --Zooba 17:07, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

The game does call them the Peak Province and Desert Province on the map and some in-game dialogue, though most of the dialogue refers only to the playable areas of Snowpeak and the Gerudo Desert which is probably why the OMN map didn't include those names. It could be tricky for formatting if there needs to be a sub-heading for the Mesa and the Arbiter's Grounds under Gerudo Desert which is already under the Desert Province subheading but cetainly those are the official names. Corbo 17:48, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
It should also be noted that the maps for the Wii version were mirrored, so what would be in the west on the Wii is in the east on the GameCube. -SaturnYoshi THE VOICES 06:25, 25 December 2006 (UTC)
The simplest way to do that would probably be to just put a note at the top of the page. The problem is, do we use GC directions or Wii directions? I think there was a debate about this on the Twilight Princess article but I'm not sure if there was a definite outcome. As it is now the article seems to use Wii directions but there are only about two east/west references so it would be easy enough to change. Corbo 12:59, 26 December 2006 (UTC)
I think we should use the GC directions since that is the intended version. - DynamoDT 18:45, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
Ditto; Link's left-handed in that version, and that's reason enough to prove it's the intended orientation. Plus it's the only major factor we've got to base this debate on. --Tryforceful 15:35, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
Being that I have only played the 'Cube version I would probably agree with this, except for the fact the the Wii version is treated more like the "main" version. Looking through the official Nintendo Players' Guide, you can clearly see that it was written for the Wii and the GameCube maps were given a section at the end of the magazine. -SaturnYoshi THE VOICES 17:54, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
Well, the sun rises in the west in the Wii version - if that doesn't show that the GC one is the "correct" version, I don't know what would. DGemmell 17:29, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Ordona Province

This line was added to the Ordona Province section, {{fact}} tagged by me, removed by another member, reinserted, and now tagged by me again:

Interestingly, Ordona is not considered part of Hyrule, but rather a neighboring province.

Can somebody actually support this with external sources or in-game dialogue that says this directly (not implied)? If not, it needs to go. Jeff Silvers 19:20, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

In the very first scene, when Rusl talks to Link about what he ought to do, he mentions something in the words of "Going to
Hyrule" and that Link has never been there.Lifeisagame247 19:25, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
There is also a scene in Telma's Bar (I believe it is when Wolf Link is sneaking through the bar with a dying Midna) when you can overhear some guards talking about Link, saying something along the lines of "You're not going to believe this, but I hear he's not even from Hyrule proper, but from the Ordona Province!" Obviously not a direct quote; I'd have to look it up... But it is there. 69.165.144.200 01:19, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
Also early on in the game someone says to link, "you havent been to hyrule before, have you" Mattyatty 13:25, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Map

Could someone add a picture of a map?

GOOD idea. I may just do that. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 209.247.21.181 (talk) 03:12, 31 January 2007 (UTC).

[edit] I has a question.

Are we sure the billboard in Hidden Village says actually says "Welcome to Old Kakariko"? 'Cause when I translated it, I got "Walker Texas Ranger".--The4sword 06:22, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

Re-checked, I'm an idiot.--4.225.245.33 (The4sword, too lazy to log in.) 02:41, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, I can't reply to that one. :-P —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 209.247.21.171 (talk) 03:44, 28 January 2007 (UTC).

[edit] OoT's Forest Temple in the Sacred Grove

The article says that Ocarina of Time's Forest Temple can be found in the Sacred Grove. Where exactly is it? I'm not suggesting it isn't there, I'm just saying I haven't seen it, myself. Jeff Silvers 21:07, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

I think it's called sacred forest medow in Oot or something like that. 71.65.34.160 06:44, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wood Bridge: Ordona = Outset?

I was wondering if anyone had looked into an interesting little thinger... In Ordona Province there is a large wooden bridge that spans a large crevasse, going from a small village area into a very woodsy area. Meanwhile, in The Wind Waker, on Outset Island there is a bridge that also goes from a humble folksy town into a forest area. Might it be a connection? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.30.110.227 (talk) 21:07, 6 January 2007 (UTC).

It's a possibility. But it may just also be an inside joke or a reference; maybe even a running gag, as bridges like that are fairly common in Zelda games. Then again, it's probably just a bridge.--4.225.245.33 02:47, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Cave of Ordeals

What about the Cave of Ordeals? Should that go somewhere, like maybe under Desert province? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 63.77.61.40 (talk) 03:35, 12 January 2007 (UTC).

[edit] Speculation

There's a lot of speculation going on in this article. I'm not saying none of it is true, but there's no cited source for any of these claims, nor is it common knowledge. Therefore, the following lines are NOT encyclopedic. I have stricken them. If I do not put a note beneath the line, that means it's being stricken for speculation.

  • Because of how the village is situated, in a forest with a stream flowing through the center, it has been speculated that the village is the former location of the Kokiri seen in Ocarina of Time. Also, Faron may be a reference to goddess Farore.
    • I've changed the part referring to Farore to resemble the similar line in the Lanayru section.
  • Eldin may be a reference to the goddess Din.
    • See above.
  • ...which may be related to Mother and Child Isle in The Wind Waker.
  • The entrance to Zora's Fountain and Zora's Fountain itself are absent in Twilight Princess (though it is possible that the current Throne Room was constructed where the Fountain originally stood; this is supported by the existance of large pool inside the current Throne Room, which did not exist in the throne room found in Ocarina of Time, but did exist in Zora's Fountain). It is also possible that the frozen lake outside in close proximity of Zora's Domain in the Snowpeak region may be Zora's Fountain, and considering how there was a small cave of ice outside of Zora's Fountain in Ocarina of Time, the Ice Cavern.
    • We're talking about what the places look like, not what they should look like and why they don't look like that.
  • It may also be the Deku Tree, due to its enormous size.
  • Interestingly, the Hylian text on the Dungeon Map reads "Golon Mines." Whether or not this is a typo is unknown.
    • I'm sure this has something to do with the lack of an ell sound in the Japanese language. I'll leave it, but it should be looked into and considered.
  • Upon cutting the ropes that hold the sword in place, it appears to come to life. By transforming to Link's wolf form and using the "sense" mode, Link can see that it is being wielded by a ghost in a blue cloak and a face that resembles a goat skull called Death Sword.
    • This is not a strategy guide.
  • This dungeon also bears strong resemblance to (and may perhaps be) the Tower of the Gods in The Wind Waker. Themes the dungeon shares with the Tower of the Gods are moving statues, a scale puzzle, and magical staircases. The Temple of Time is also eight floors high, which resembles a tower.
    • Changed to simply, "The Temple of Time bears resembance to Wind Waker's Tower of the Gods."

That's all I found. If I missed any, please let me know. To those who edited these lines in:

I am in no way implying you're wrong about any of the speculation. I am simply trying to keep this article encyclopedic. So, if you're thinking about going back and editing them back in, go ahead, but please consider what I'm saying, and at least give a good reason for each one. - Mellesime 10:12, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

Heh, I added the Golon Mines tidbit. You're right, it really isn't necessary. I actually knew about how the Japanese can't tell the difference between "R" and L," so I will edit that one. Also, it's a little bit difficult to cite the sources of facts in video games. For instance, I tried to find a Wikipedia reference to the Mother and Child Isle in The Wind Waker, but I could not. I would like to try to find sources to the above issues, but I simply do not have enough time to search for quality websites. I will, however, attempt to edit and revise this article. 209.247.21.181 23:17, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Mini (big) dungeons

You know those big dungeons that are behind rocks like the one near lake Hylia? Well those should be put into it's own section or in the mini dungeon portion.RammaYB 20:34, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] I have a map

I have a map of the game, but its quality is questionable. The portals are on, and the cursor is over Gerudo Desert. The image is here - http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v125/PokeMaster/tp_map.png

Someone might want to Photoshop the highlighting of Gerudo Desert and the cursor out. If not, it could be added as is. 209.247.21.181 23:13, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
