Podiatry regualtions differ from country to country. In Australia podiatry is a Graduate Degree, hence they, the majority are not doctors of medicine but health professionals specialising in the disorders of the human foot. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 203.221.69.121 (talk • contribs) 12:39, 8 September 2003.

The bulk of this topic is pertinent to Podiatric Medicine and Surgery as practiced in the United States. This includes certifying boards, educational standards, residency, and scope of practice. I agree. Chiropody does not translate to "foot and ankle." Chiros means "to straighten, or bring true." Think of other uses, like chiropractor. --Legomancer 12:16, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

The previous contributor to this section has an accurate perspective on the current status of UK chiropodists; the length of training and their current status is quite undeserving of bone surgical privileges. All bone surgery in the UK should currently be exclusively practiced within the domain of highly trained Orthopaedic Surgeons. The suggestion that there is a move to call all Podiatrists who are not DPMs "Podiatry Technicians" is a good idea. The section on UK Podiatry appears to have been removed for good reason. In fairness, this section should be composed by Podiatric Physicians & Surgeons, namely DPM's. The previous contributor to this section has an out-of-date perspective on the current status of UK podiatrists; the length of training and their current surgical status. The suggestion that there is a move to call all podiatrists who are not DPMs "Podiatry Technicians" is a complete falacy. The section on UK Podiatry appears to have been removed by the previous author following changes made by me. In fairness, this section should be composed by a UK podiatrist, not a US podiatrist with a poor opinion of his UK colleagues.
