Poker After Dark is an hour-long late night poker television program on NBC, which debuted January 2007 in its NBC All Night programming lineup, airing six nights a week. [1]
Participants in this made-for-television No Limit Texas hold 'em mini-tournament include many top poker professionals. Each week, six players vie for a $120,000 pot, with each paying a $20,000 buy-in. The show is hosted by Shana Hiatt. Oliver "Ali" Nejad is the announcer.
It airs weekdays immediately after Last Call with Carson Daly at 2:05 a.m. ET (1:05 CT) on most stations, although it could vary according to local affiliates' alternate programming. The show replaces reruns of Late Night with Conan O'Brien, with The Tonight Show with Jay Leno repeats moved up one hour. A "Director's Cut" of the previous week's shows is scheduled on Saturdays at 2:01 a.m. ET (1:01 Central) after local programming, replacing classic reruns of Saturday Night Live.
Each night of original programming features an intimate look at one table as it develops over one day, however it is edited for broadcast over the course of a week, culminating with a winner on Friday night. Saturday night's show recaps the week's events (including highlights of Hiatt's outtakes) and the week's winner and participants offering commentary. NBC also airs the National Heads-Up Poker Championship, which began in 2005 as replacement programming due to the NHL lockout.
Poker After Dark airs on all NBC affiliates, except those located in Albany, Houston, Detroit, Austin, Salt Lake City and Memphis. The NBC stations in these areas air infomercials in place of Poker After Dark.
Due to the show's ratings success [2], NBC has been able to sell more advertising on the rebroadcasts, as well as garner more sponsors for future episodes. The show's main original sponsor was Full Tilt Poker. [3]

[edit] Trivia
In the third episode of Season 1, the table refused to stop talking, laughing at, and teasing Phil while he was deciding to call Annie's bet for all his chips, causing him to lash out at Shawn and leave the table. Hellmuth held A♥ 10♦, while Duke had K♠ K♥ in the hand. He also threatened not to play in any more of these tournaments unless the rules of decorum were enforced so that people would stop talking during a hard decision, and would be punished as they would be in official tournaments. Immediately after the incident, producers put in place a rule which states that if a player wishes to have silence at the table when faced with a tough decision, the player need only inform the dealer, who will then notify the other players of the request. Failure to comply will result in a "time-out" period of one lap of the button for the offending player(s), with blinds forfeited during this time. [4]
