Talk:Port road pub crawl

I want to link some pictures of the historic hotels enroute when I have a little more time. I own the copyright.
Please hang on. BigMick101
- There are hundreds of thousands of pub crawls all over the world. Nobody except the people on them remotely care. It is not remotely Notable. -- Fan-1967 15:39, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
Agreed. However this particular route has heritage significance because of the history of the city of Adelaide. The city was placed 12km from the port. Migrants would arrive by sail boat at the port, and then travel by foot or wagon up the port road, so this road has a significant number of historic pubs which have been serving people on foot for around 160 years. The pubs provided accommodation in addition to watering horses and bullocks etc. I need to clarify this in the article. BigMick101
- Uh, the immigrant history might be notable. I don't see how a bunch of people using it as an excuse to get hammered is notable. Fan-1967 15:58, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
Adelaide can be quite a hot city. I think the number of pubs along this heritage trail is notable. The pubs were placed along the route for the refreshment of travelers. Several million people alive today would have an ancestor who traveled this route. BigMick101 16:13, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
- Again: the ancestors and their experience may be notable. This article is not about them. Fan-1967 16:15, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
Agreed. I will consider how to change into an article about the heritage of the port road. Notably it is a wide road with a partially built canal up the middle. It was never finished, possibly because the height difference needed more water than was available. Will attend to within the next day. BigMick101 16:22, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
I still argue that the pubs along the route are notable since they are the only surviving businesses from this era. I think this will be more obvious once I have worked out how to donate my photographs. BigMick101 16:35, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
I have added several references, including brochures for the heritage pub walk and a Government brochure on the heritage pubs. I have also added pictures. BigMick101 17:26, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
