Postimees
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Postimees (The Courier) is an Estonian newspaper. It was established in 1857 by Johann Voldemar Jannsen and became Estonia's first daily newspaper in 1891.
Postimees is Estonia's second biggest daily with over 237,000 readers and a daily circulation of 65,000 to 70,000.
In 1995, Postimees launched its own website, which was then just an online outlet of its newspaper stories. In 2000, the website was facelifted and it began publishing online news on a daily basis and has since established itself as an online news portal.
As of 2006, www.postimees.ee is Estonia's largest news producer online, having 140,000 readers per week.[citation needed]
92,5% of Postimees is owned by Norway's Schibsted company, one of the leading media groups in Scandinavia.
