PowerCity
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Power City is the leading Irish electrical retailer of consumer & electronic goods with branches in Blanchardstown, Finglas, Tallaght, Finglas, Fonthill, Sallynoggin & Bray. In July 2006 a new store, the second outside Dublin, was opened in Drogheda.[1]
Selling a wide range of electrical goods and accessories at discount prices, they are regared as the Irish market leaders in the electrical good industry. According to the Irish Top 1000 Companies database [3], in 2003 the company made a profit of € 8.4 million on a turnover of € 87 million[2] with a staff of 180.
Satirised on Bull Island for their infamous red & white stripy shirts and red v-neck jumpers, it is wholly untrue that all their prices ended in .99! This practice was discontinued long before Bull Island came on the scene.
Main Irish market competitors include DID Electrical, Currys, Dixons, Harvey Norman and Sony Centre.
