Praia Grande, Cape Verde

Praia Grande (Portuguese meaning "large beach", Capeverdean Crioulo, ALUPEC or ALUPEK: Praia Grandi, also in São Vicente Crioulo) is a large beach spanning approxmately 2 km with sandy beaches that extends up to 150 to 200 m from the shore and is a crescent-shape going from northwest to southeast.

The area around the beach are made up of grasslands and rocks. Nearby attractions includes Calhau to the south, a narrow treacherous grassy valley of Selada da Baleia to the west and Monte Verde, the island's tallest point to the west. Only one remote road which offers a poor access between Topim and Baía das Gatas. There are no inhabitants living in this region.

The area does not offer much panoramic views except for its nearby areas, the island of Santa Luzia can be seen southward and parts of the Baía das Gatas. The area is not used as a beach and is dangerous.
