Primary and secondary explosives
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Primary and Secondary are the two distinct classifications of explosives.
Primary explosives are explosives that are extremely sensitive, such as Lead azide and Lead styphnate. They are often used in detonators or to trigger larger chargers of less sensitive Secondary explosives.
Secondary explosive are less sensitive and are therefore useable in a wider variety of applications. Examples of secondary explosives include TNT and RDX.
