Prince Hashim bin Al Hussein was born on June 10, 1981. He is the son of King Hussein and Queen Noor. In her autobiography, Queen Noor states that Hashim was named after the clan of Hashim, a tribe to which the Prophet Muhammad and King Hussein belong.

Prince Hashim received his elementary education in Amman at the Amman Baccalaureat School and then attended the schools of St. Mark's and Fay in the United States. He later graduated from Washington Maret School in 1999. Prince Hashim went to the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst in 2000. He was awarded the Prince Saud Bin Abdullah Prize, presented to the cadet with the highest aggregate mark. After graduating from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, he attended both Duke University and Georgetown University (where he transferred to). In August 2005, His Royal Highness obtained an undergraduate degree in Comparative Studies from Georgetown University - School of Foreign Service. Whilst serving as a Captain in the Jordan Army 3rd Royal Ranger Battalion, His Royal Highness attended several military and security courses.

On 6 January 2006 His Royal Highness Prince Hashim Bin Al Hussein was engaged to Princess Fahdah Mohammed Abu Neyan of Saudi Arabia. Princess Fahdah is the daughter of Mohammad Ben Ibrahim Ben Sulayman Abu Neyan . On April 15, 2006 they were married. The bride's father is Sheikh Mohammad Ibrahim bin Sulayman Abu Neyan and her grandfather is Sheikh Turki bin Khaled Al-Sedeiri.
