Prix Hocquart
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Prix Hocquart is a Group 2 flat horse race in France for three-year-old thoroughbreds (excluding geldings) run over a distance of 2,200 metres (approximately 1 mile 3 furlongs) at Longchamp Racecourse in May.
It was first run in 1861 as the Prix de Longchamp and was re-named in 1885 in memory of Comte Louis Hocquart de Turtot, a leading figure in French racing who died the previous year. The present distance was set in 2005, prior to which the race had usually been run at 2,400 metres (1 mile 4 furlongs). An exception to this was the period from 1997 to 2000, when the race was run over 2,200 metres at Chantilly Racecourse.
