On the day of Prom, the residue of Nathan's pre-Prom party has serious repercussions for everyone in Tree Hill.

Rachel is expelled after taking the blame for the exam she stole with Brooke. Peyton tells Lucas she wants to skip the Prom entirely, but he refuses to take no for an answer. Finally Mouth and Brooke must deal with dating Clean Teens on Prom night.

Nathan and Haley argue, and Haley (in her hormonal pregnant rage) makes him write a list of who he has slept with. He instead writes down the name of the only person he's been in love with (Haley of course) and they make up. Dan asks Karen to chaperone the prom with him. Rachel, being expelled, is going to meet her parents on holiday. Brooke says she'll miss her and Mouth does too. Brooke asks Mouth to go to Prom with her, and Mouth accepts.

Peyton didn't want to go to prom, but she was convinced to do so by Lucas. As she walks to answer the door, thinking its Lucas come to pick her up, the man behind the door turns around, and it's actually Derek, the psycho stalker. He punches her in the face, and that's the end of the episode.
