BIOGRAFIA
Kristin Dawn Chenoweth nasceu no dia 24 de julho de 1968 numa cidade americana chamada Browen Arrow (Oklahoma). Obteve seu diploma de bacharelado em teatro musical e seu mestrado em ópera performance na Universidade de Oklahoma, tendo executado diversas performances como soprano lírico-coloratura. Kristin cantou em um concurso em Opryland e recebeu o prêmio de "most talented up-and-coming singer" pelo Metropolitan Opera National Council, o que resultou numa bolsa de estudos para a Philadelphia's Academy of Vocal Arts. Entretando, nesse meio tempo, Kristin audicionou para um musical Off-Broadway e ganhou o papel. Decidiu então esquecer sua bolsa de estudos para construir uma carreira na Broadway. Algum tempo depois ela estaria recebendo um Tony.
Kristin interpretou personagens tão diferentes que é praticamente impossível descrevê-la. Sua estréia na Broadway foi em 1997, no musical Steel Pier; entretanto, Kristin é mais conhecida pela sua performance como Sally em You're a Good Man Charlie Brown, 1999, (que lhe deu um Tony) e como Glinda, no musical Wicked. Em 2001, gravou seu primeiro CD solo com a Sony, chamado Let Yourself Go. Além disso fez diversas participações na TV (como, por exemplo, na série The West Wing) e no cinema, atuando ao lado de Nicole Kidman em Bewitched e também no longa The Pink Panther.
Seu primeiro palco foi na igreja batista na qual foi criada, e foi lá que Kristin descobriu seu amor pelo canto. A primeira música que cantou em público (na igreja) foi: I'm Four Foot Eleven and I'm Going to Heaven. Graças a isso, apesar de todo o seu sucesso, Kristin nunca deixou de ser a talentosa menininha da igreja de Oklahoma e tenta levar seu trabalho juntamente com sua fé cristã. Podemos perceber isso em seu último CD, As I Am, onde selecionou uma rica coleção de músicas que vão desde clássicos a hits pop contemporâneos - canções que falam sobre fé e sobre amor em seu sentido mais espiritual e renovador.
Durante a primavera de 2004, enquanto interpretava Glinda em Wicked e ensaiava A Pantera Cor-de-rosa, Kristin realizou um antigo sonho cantando o papel de Cunegunda, de Candide, com a orquestra filarmônica de New York. (A famosa ária "Glitter and be Gay" se tornou desde então um marco no repertório da atriz). [Este concerto cênico pode ser encontrado em DVD].
Atualmente, Kristin está filmando o longa Deck the Halls, ao lado de nomes como Danny DeVito e Matthew Broderick, e se prepara para estrear sua primeira participação em um desenho animado, no filme Rapunzel, da Disney.
