The QSZ-92 Services Pistol (Chinese: 轻手枪族; pinyin: Qīng Shoǔqiàng Zú; literally "Light Pistol Family") is a semi-automatic pistol designed by Norinco and it is in limited service in the People's Liberation Army since the late 1990s.
[edit] Development
The development of the QSZ-92 pistol apparently began circa 1994. The pistol is a recent development incorporating mechanical features similar to those of the Beretta 92FS and a design closely resembling that of the HK USP. Apparently, it is now being adopted by the People's Liberation Army forces. QSZ-92 pistol is available in two versions: one is chambered for most common 9x19mm Luger/Parabellum ammunition (QSZ-92-9), and another is chambered for proprietary 5.8 mm armor-piercing ammunition with bottle-necked case and pointed bullets (QSZ-92-5.8), closely resembling the Belgian 5.7 x 28 mm cartridge format.
