[edit] History
Radio Medica was founded in 1974 by Chris Poulton and John Fallon. The first programme was presented by Jimmy Saville. In those days the station operated with very basic equipment from a small converted bathroom at the old St. John's Hospital in Goole. Things progressed until the station was broadcasting to three hospitals in Goole, as well as hospitals in Howden, Rawcliffe and Hook. In 1986, with the completion of the new hospital, most of the other buildings closed and a brand new studio was built at the Woodland Avenue complex. Even in those days the station was still using only vinyl records and tape cartridge machines. Progression in the late 80's saw the fitting of CD players and in the 90's Mini Disc player's made their debut. In 2000 the station increased its broadcasting hours and now is on air 24 hours a day using automation.
[edit] Jingles
There are two main sung station idents which were produced by Dave Langer. The station has also had many voice over style idents recorded by various radio presenters including James Watt (BBC Radio York and BBC Radio Cleveland), Robbie Dee, and Simon Logan (Radio Aire).
