Raimon de Miraval

Raimon de Miraval(h) (fl.1185-1213) was a troubadour, and is believed to be a poor knight from Carasconne. Favoured by Raimon VI of Toulouse, he was also later associated with Peter II of Aragon and Alfonso VIII of Castile.
Raimon is believed to have at least partly owned the castle in Miraval which was captured by Simon de Montfort during the Albigensian Crusade. After the Battle of Muret in 1213 Raimon fled to Spain.
Of Raimon's works 45 remain, of which 22 have melodies. Most of these works are of the trobar leu style.
