Rainer Blatt
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Rainer Blatt is a professor of physics at the University of Innsbruck. He earned his PhD from the University of Mainz in 1981.
Blatt's group succeeded in the entanglement of eight trapped calcium ions, called a QuByte (Quantum byte). The calcium ions were stored using a Paul trap and were prepared in a quantum state called a "W-state" using sophisticated laser techniques. QuBytes are expected to be the building blocks of future Quantum Computers.
