Rajesh Hamal born on 9 June 1964 in Mission Hospital, Palpa, Nepal is the most famous and successful actor of Nepal. He started his career with a movie called Yug Dekhin Yug Samma. He is the most dominating figure in Nepalese movie industry and is well known to have brought about professionalism in this industry of Nepal. He is arguably one of the biggest stars in the history of the Nepali film industry.

Rajesh completed his schooling from Moscow, higher education (MA in English) from Punjab University, India. Studied in Nepal for a year at St Xavier's School in grade eight. He had modelled for Fashion Net, an Indian fashion magazine in 1985 and had also walked the ramp in Kathmandu and New Delhi in 1986. In one year, on an average, he works on 10 to 12 films. The maximum was 16 films in 1994. He has worked in more than 177 Nepali movies and a Pakistani movie. Among all his movies, Devata and Basanti are his favourite. His latest movie is Luv Kush.
What keeps Hamal as the monopolistic actor in Nepal is the fact that he has an unbeatable personality, marvellous style and a sense to dominate the industry. Hamal has often been referred to as Hugh Grant and Al Pachino of Nepal.
He has been nominated as the best actor in every film awards of Nepal till now, and has won most of them, like Motion Picture Award, Lux Film Award, etc. He is also the ambassador of the first bike ever manufactured in Nepal, the “Cosmic Ying Yang”. He is planning to get involved in filmmaking and make a movie in which he would direct and play the lead. He is now taking classes on film making. He is unmarried till date. It was found in 2007 that the largest number of fans he has are in Des Moines, IA. The Nepali community in Des Moines even has a fan club named Rajesh Hamal Fan Club in a communication site 'FaceBook'. Though his fans are spread everywhere in the world, Des Moines US is considered to hold the vast majority of his fans.
