Ramp Industry
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ramp Industry is a UK-based marketing company that specialises in allowing clients to communicate their brand effectively and authentically, mainly through buzz marketing or viral marketing. It is generally used by companies which do not want to spend a great deal on marketing, or is used alongside other campaigns.
Recent clients have included Channel 4, Orange and PlayStation 3.
thefountainremixed
Ramp Industry's most successful project so far has been the creation of thefountainremixed.com, a promotion for the film The Fountain released in 2006 in the US. The website allowed users to download uncut footage from the film and encouraged them to use this, along with downloadable logos and text, to create a trailer which could then be uploaded to the website for others to view.
threespeech
As part of the marketing for PlayStation 3, Ramp Industry set up an 'independent' blog called threespeech, which apparrently aims to perform a similar role as Major Nelson does for the Xbox 360. On the website, Ramp states:
This is threespeech... threespeech isn't part of PlayStation, but it does get to speak to PlayStation. You could say we're 'semi official'.
However, the blog's independent status has been called into question a number of times by gaming news websites such as Kotaku.
