Rana FM

Rana FM is a radio station owned and operated by the Canadian Forces to support the Information Campaign in Afghanistan.
The station launched at 0400 hours on January 6, 2007. It broadcasts on 88.5 FM and aims at 15-25 Afghans in the Kandahar City area.
Rana FM broadcasts its programme in the Pashto language, but focuses on playing current popular music. It has employed the Top 40 format; it plays South Asian (Afghan, Hindi, Persian and Pakistani) as well as Arabic and Turkish pop hits.
Rana FM's music policy is to provide the audience with an up to date "cutting edge" feel which includes modern Afghan sounds mixed together with music from Afghanistan's neighbours and the surrounding region in general.
Rana FM is a station that promotes an "inclusive" tolerant Afghanistan where all Afghans are equal under law and a country that looks to a bright, prosperous and dynamic future.
Rana FM's music and its associated programming does not look backward, even to yesterday. Rana FM is totally focussed on today and tomorrow!
Rana FM means 'light' in Pashto and it's motto is: Light in your life!
