From the article:
The spacecraft encountered the lunar surface in a direct hyperbolic trajectory, with incoming asymptotic direction at an angle of -13.6 degrees from the lunar equator.
Isn't it a bit silly that terms like "direct hyperbolic trajectory" and "incoming asymptotic direction" don't require elaboration, but a term like "lunar equator" does? I actually know my way around orbital math, but I couldn't say with any certainty what was meant by either of the latter two phrases, and despair at most lay readers having any idea what was meant. Surely someone can do better. Jeff Medkeff | Talk 12:50, Feb 20, 2005 (UTC)
- I've added links to hyperbolic trajectory and asymptote. Anymore ? Please help get the article "wikified". Thanks. -- PFHLai 14:07, 2005 Feb 20 (UTC)
