[edit] Biography
Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.
Raoul is Christine Daaé's childhood sweetheart, and he meets up with her again, as the Opera Populaire's patron, when they are older. They fall in love and become engaged, against the Phantom's wishes. This, of course, causes great distress and rumors among the cast and staff of the Opera Populaire. Vicomte Raoul de Chagny attempts to bring Erik (the Phantom) to the police, which, in the end, becomes his greatest mistake.
