Ray Lane

Ray Lane is a sports fixture in Michigan, and has been for almost four decades. The native Detroiter, earned a bachelors degree in Radio and communications from Michigan State University in 1953.

From 1967 through 1972, he teamed with Ernie Harwell as the voices of the Detroit Tigers. Lane has also served as the voice of the Detroit Lions, Detroit Pistons, the University of Michigan football, Michigan State University football and University of Detroit basketball. Lane was also sports director at WJBK (CBS now FOX) succeeding Van Patrick and later sports director at WKBD (UPN).
Outside of Michigan, Lane's other works include a stint with the Cincinnati Reds (1979-1984), and several Big 10 college basketball games on ESPN in the early-mid 1980s.

Lane is a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, has been named Michigan Sportscaster of the Year, inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame and is past President of the Detroit Sports Broadcasters Association. He has also been involved with the Michigan PGA Hall of Fame.

He has been a member of the Corporate Leadership Board of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Detroit since 1972. Lane has also been an active fundraiser for the United Foundation and the Sanctuary in Royal Oak, MI.
