Raymond S. and Dorothy N. Moore Foundation
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Raymond S. and Dorothy N. Moore Foundation is a non-profit organization in North Bonneville, Washington. The Moore Foundation is best known for its "Moore formula" educational concept in homeschooling, consisting of, "1) STUDY — from a few minutes to several hours a day, depending on the child's maturity. Readiness is vital! 2) MANUAL WORK and ENTREPRENEURSHIP — at least as much work in family or other business as study. 3) HOME and/or COMMUNITY SERVICE — an hour or so a day. Focus on kids' interests and needs. Be an example in consistency, curiosity, and patience."[1] The Moore's principal research finding encourages parents not to "subject your children to formal, scheduled study before the ages of 8 to 10 or 12."[2]
In 2002, the Moore Foundation mourned the passing of Dorothy Moore, who helped to pioneer the concept of homeschooling.
