Rebecca Sims

Rebecca Sims was built in 1801 by Samuel Bowers of Philadelphia for Joseph Sims as a general trading vessel. It was later converted to a whaling vessel in the 1850's. It was purchased 21 October 1861 for the Stone Fleet. Commanded by Master James M. Willis, it was intentionally sunk as an obstruction in the harbor of Charleston, SC on December 19-20, 1861.
