Reggae rock is a fusion genre that combines elements of reggae and rock music. Reggae rock is not a generally consistent or homogenous genre. Subgenres include reggae punk, reggae metal and ragga punk.
Some reggae rock bands incorporate influences from hardcore, hard rock or heavy metal, such as Bad Brains, 311, P.O.D., Sublime and Skindred. Other bands combine reggae with soft rock or new wave music, such as The Police and Mute Math. Some bands combine reggae with punk rock, such as The Clash, The Ruts and The Slits. Ragga and rap vocals are used by some reggae rock artists, such as Sublime, Skindred and Matisyahu.
