Regions of Serbia
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is a list of some of geographical and traditional regions of Serbia. Regions that are in the Pannonian plain are delimited by rivers, while those in mountainous parts of are generally delimited by mountains; where latter is the case, it could be said that the regions' borders follow mountain ridges, or that regions are only hospitable areas between these mountains and mountains don't really belong to them. Some regions are defined as river valleys (and those often overlap with other regions); the most common form in Serbian language is po+(river name)+je (e.g. Podrinje is an area along Drina river).
These regions have no official status, and some of them overlap, or have not clear borders.
