Rentorer (レントラー Rentorā?, Rentorer in original Japanese language versions) are one of the 493 fictional species of Pokémon creatures from the multi-billion-dollar[1] Pokémon media franchise – a collection of video games, anime, manga, books, trading cards, and other media, created by Satoshi Tajiri. Rentorer is famous for being one of the Pokémon revealed before the Japanese release of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. The purpose of Rentorer in the games, anime and manga, as with all other Pokémon, is to battle both wild Pokémon, untamed creatures encountered while the player passes through various environments, and tamed Pokémon owned by Pokémon trainers.[2]
Rentorer's name is a portmanteau of Röntgen, a German physicist that discovered x-rays and the Japanese word for tiger (トラー).

[edit] Biological characteristics
Rentorer resembles a fully-grown lion. It has long black fur on most of its body, while other parts of Rentorer are light blue, creating a unique appearance. Rentorer has two oval ears beside its head and a long tail with a four-pointed yellow star at the tip. It also has three rings around its legs, while Luxio has two and Shinx has one.
Rentorer's gold eyes are specially designed for X-ray vision, which enables this predatory Pokémon to spot hiding prey, even if hidden behind a wall.
The manes of female Rentorer are slightly shorter than those of their male counterparts.

Rentorer is one of many new Pokémon to make its first appearance in the release of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl for the Nintendo DS.
It is obtained by evolving Shinx into Luxio at level 15, and finally into Rentorer at level 30.
Rentorer is used by the eighth Gym Leader of Sinnoh, Denzi, at level 49.
Rentorer is only vulnerable to Ground-type Pokémon and, although it has a very high Attack stat, it has a poor movepool to take advantage of this. It's high Attack does come in handy because it, unlike most pure-Electric pokèmon, can learn moves that are super-effective against the Ground-type, i.e. Ice Fang. It is notable in its mediocre speed, which is a rare attribute for Electric-type Pokémon. Rentorer's Rivalry ability raises its Attack power by 50 percent when the opponent is of the same gender as Rentorer.
