[edit] Great to see another AFOL

Hi,

I created the AFOL userbox only a few days ago, and it's great to see a few other users are altready using it. BTW, I don't know if you've seen BrickWiki, a Lego-related wikipedia-like site.

[edit] blocked

You have been temporarily blocked for violation of the three-revert rule. Please feel free to return after the block expires, but also please make an effort to discuss your changes further in the future.

Four reverts in eight hours. Take a break. — May. 11, '06 [09:13] <freakofnurxture|talk>

Reverting simple vandalism (such as userboxes the size of my screen) is not 3RR, according to Wikipedia:Three-revert rule. So your block is obviously in error. However, in future try using pages like Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents or Wikipedia:Requests for page protection instead of going into a revert war. I used both and the template was restored within minutes by User:Tony Sidaway. Friendly Neighbour 16:13, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

Thanks Friendly. I probably should have gone to the Incidents board after the second revert, but I was trying to appeal to the vandals' noble sense, considering they are both historied Wikipedians with alot of genuine contributions under their belts. Thanks for the advice though. Rexmorgan 16:53, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
Well it looks like a content dispute to me rather than simple vandalism, so technically you were in breach of the rule. Since blocking is to prevent disruption and the particular war seems to have settled down, I will remove the block (give me a few minutes), just be careful in future. --pgk(talk) 16:57, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
This was no article. This was a simple userbox, people put on their pages to send a message. Making the userbox a full article and changing the message hundreds of users have already put on their userpages is more than mere vandalism. It's MEGA-vandalism of multiple userpages. Friendly Neighbour 18:06, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
Well we are trying to write an encylopaedia so ornamentation for people's user pages doesn't actually achieve some higher protection status than articles. It is ultimately a content dispute, if people aren't happy to take whatever the current version of the template says then they should either subst it onto their page making sure that is the version they get and it won't change, or and my prefernce ignore putting themselves into neat little boxes and write something about themselves which shows their individuality. Regardless the place for such a debate isn't really Rexmorgan's talk page. --pgk(talk) 20:21, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] School IP

I'm sorry about all the vandalism wikipedia might receive from this IP. I am one of the students, and I do my best to stop others from vandalizing, but bored students have their ways of getting past me. Perhaps you should consider blocking the school's IP address, if at all possible. (From editing, not reading, of course.) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 205.158.140.77 (talkcontribs).

[edit] SCAD

Rex, I found you in a SCAD discussion. I see that SCAD is a non-accredited school. I have spent the entire week researching accreditation of schools because I would like to gain accreditation for the art school that I have been running for five years now.

I've learned that accreditation is a consuming, expensive business. I would like to be accredited so my students can use student loans, grants, etc. It is also my chance to integrate trade standards for what I teach, "Decorative Artistry" i.e. faux finishes, murals for interiors, for which there are standard schools in Europe but not here (seemingly).

Back to SCAD: they seem to do well without the "stamp". Do students get loans or grants to attend this "non-accredited" school?

Lastly, I apologize for this, but you seem smart, and I am dummified by the vague responses I get from accrediting establishments, which are basically telling me "apply, do the work, give us almost $10K, and then we'll tell you if we accredit schools of your size and nature".

Thanks much, Brian Bullard Decartctr@aol.com http://www.dec-arts.com 64.12.117.5 21:24, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
