RFC-791
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
RFC-791 (Also known as Internet Protocol) is the protocol that runs the entire modern Internet. It started out as a DARPA project some time in the late 1970's and was documented as IPv4 in September of 1981. RFC-791 is one of the most important development projects which led to our ability to communicate via net based data-gram protocol. Although IPv4 will one day be replaced by IPv6, RFC-791 is still a relavent document for defining Internet Protocol Data-Grams.
