The notes say this illustration came from a book published in 1855, and thus should be public domain. Was anyone anywhere doing 4 color printing in 1855? I suppose the technology could have existed, but did it? -- Bill 21:12, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
- The image description page gives the source; linked from that page are also bibliographic details and an introduction which says "Engraved t.p. with floreated border in colors." I don't know exactly what that means, but it seems there was certainly some sort of color technology at the time. Melchoir 07:10, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
