Richard Attwood (born April 4, 1940 in Wolverhampton, Staffordshire) is a British former Formula One driver who raced for the BRM, Lotus and Cooper teams. Prior to Formula One he started racing in 1960 at the wheel of a Triumph TR3. In 1963 he entered Formula Junior, where he won the Monaco race in a Lola. He enjoyed some success in Formula 2 with a win in Austria, and also raced a Ford P68 sports car. During his Formula One years he managed a sixth place in both the Italian and Mexican GPs in 1965 and a spectacular chase to second place along with a fastest lap at Monaco in 1968, behind Graham Hill's Lotus. In 1969, after a series of disappointing performances, he finished fourth in Monaco; it was the end of his Formula One career, although he did appear at the 1969 German Grand Prix, in an F2 Brabham for Frank Williams, where he finished 6th.
Attwood subsequently went on to win the Le Mans 24 Hours in 1970 with a Porsche 917, along with Hans Herrmann. He retired from motorsport in 1971. In his whole F1 career he achieved one podium and scored a total of 11 championship points.
