Richard Bird

Prof. Richard S. Bird (born 1943, London) is a Fellow of Computation at Lincoln College, Oxford, England, and former director of Oxford University Computing Laboratory. His research interests lie in algorithm design and functional programming, and he is renowned as a regular contributor to the Journal of Functional Programming and the author of several books. His name is associated with the Bird-Meertens Formalism.
Previously Bird was at the University of Reading.
