Richard George William Pitt Booth
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Richard George William Pitt Booth (born September 12, 1938) is a British bookseller and eccentric who proclaimed himself ruler of the Independent Kingdom of Hay-on-Wye on April 1, 1977 (he named his horse Prime Minister), a micronation. This proclamation earned him and the town world-wide publicity, and fuelled the used-book business that had already taken hold in the town. Unlike some claimants to "microstatedom", Richard Booth does not pretend to take his claims seriously.
