Rick Turner
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Rick Turner was an early employee and subsequently shareholder of Alembic.
Rick made an important contribution to the development of Alembic instruments in the 1970s before leaving to later establish Rick Turner Guitars, Renaissance Guitars and Compass Rose Ukuleles in the early 1990s and after.
Turner's designs are considered significant and innovative, and include at least the following:
- the use of curved plates on the front and back of his Model 1 electric guitars in order to reduce standing wave hysteresis loss. - the use of 18v preamps in an attempt to tame the 'quack' commonly associated with piezoelectric acoustic guitar pickups.
