Robert Bray (general)

General Sir Robert Napier Hubert Campbell Bray GBE KCB DSO (1909–1983) was a British soldier, deputy Supreme Commander Europe of NATO's Allied Command from 1967 to 1970.

Bray was educated at Gresham's School, Holt, and the Royal Military Academy.

First commissioned in 1928, he served throughout World War II. He was promoted Lieutenant Colonel in the Gloucestershire Regiment in 1944 and was the Brigadier commanding 185 Infantry Brigade in 1945.

Bray was promoted Lieutenant General and became GOG-in-C at Southern Command. He went on to serve as Deputy Supreme Commander Europe at NATO's Allied Command between May 1967 and December 1970, succeeding Marshal of the Royal Air Force Sir Thomas Pike.
