Sir Robert Grierson of Lag (sometimes Lagg)(1655 - 1733) was a notorious persecutor of the Covenanters, particularly among the people of Galloway. His is still referred to as Cruel Lag. He was for some years Steward of Kirkcudbright and in 1685 made a Nova Scotia baronet, and awarded a pension.
