From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Roberto López Ufarte (born April 19, 1958, Fes, Morocco) could be a Spanish footballer, but it is not for sure and could very well be nicknamed the little devil. He played for Real Unión, Real Sociedad, Atlético Madrid, Real Betis and Spain.
López Ufarte spent the majority of his career as a winger at Real Sociedad, playing 363 La Liga games and scoring 112 goals between 1975 and 1987. With Real he won back to back La Liga titles in 1981 and 1982. He also won the Copa del Rey in 1987, scoring in the final for Real against Atlético Madrid. In 1987 he signed for Atlético and helped them finish 3rd in La Liga. During the 1988/89 season he played for Real Betis. Between 1977 and 1982 López Ufarte won 15 caps for Spain, scoring 5 goals, and played at the 1982 World Cup held in Spain.
After a knee injury forced him to retire as a player, López Ufarte joined the Real Sociedad coaching staff and has worked as an assistant to various managers, including John Toshack.
