Perhaps a mention should be made of Ressler's colleague and friend ; John E. Douglas*. Who worked with Ressler on many occasions on many cases, both men worked in the same FBI deparment at the same time for many years.

- He is Special Agent John Douglas, a legendary figure in law enforcement and the model for the Scott Glenn character in The Silence of the Lambs. (He was also the original choice to play the role.)
