Hi there. Thanks for your excellent contributions on the Barons West. I noticed that at one point you'd created a redirect to a non-existent page, in preparation for creating the page. I think people sometimes frown on creating redirects to blank pages, even if only for a short time (I've been criticised for it myself). One option is to create the final page first, and then the necessary redirect. Another way to achieve the same result, which I find quicker, is to initially create the article on the page which you want as the redirect, and then immediately move it to its final location, using the "move" button at the top (which creates an automatic redirect on the page you've moved it from). No worries, glad to help! The succession box system is somewhat complicated, but until (unlikely) improvements in software it's the best we've got. I suggest having a look at Template talk:Succession box. Best, Mackensen (talk) 6 July 2005 19:50 (UTC)
One other note of clarification. When it's a simple one-to-one box (predecessor, title, heir), we use Template:PeerNavbox instead of the succession boxes. We also don't include the years in which the title was held. Mackensen (talk) 6 July 2005 19:57 (UTC)

Thank you for your comments about Pmanderson/Septentrionalis/whoever, but I'm not so willing to dismiss him as a misguided "expert". I've responded to his/her condescending and deliberately obtuse remarks on Talk:Congress of the United States and I'll leave it at that. - Really? That's odd, because WP:V says "Any material that is challenged or likely to be challenged needs a reliable source, which should be cited in the article." I think a lot of that section sounds like OR, and I would like to see citations in the article. GertrudeTheTramp 05:26, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

I know you often disagree with me on naming questions; but your German is better than mine. The standard abbreviation for this town is Hann. Münden, and the town council adopted Hann. Münden as the official name a decade ago. As far as I can see, English usage is, and always has been, simple Münden or Munden, the Hannoversch being to avoid confusion with Minden - not possible in English. Is not the only resource for information (if its even credible, for that matter) on certain subjects. You seem to have this mentality. Realize that some folk have first hand knowledge in things you're not even apart of. As a resident of the Bucks County area for ten years, I can attest to this and stand by my edits for articles regarding the PA area. Internet source or not.

Just to forestall your shock at the changes to the page, Steve Block and I decided to use verbatim wording from V and RS in the exceptions section. Yes, the third exception is out at the moment, and one and two have reverted to older wording. The logic is that if we are not actually introducing policy changes, but merely condensing V, RS, and NOR, we might be able to finally move the damn page forward. There has been an extensive effort to combine Wikipedia:Verifiability and Wikipedia:No original research (together with much of Wikipedia:Reliable sources) into a new policy called Wikipedia:Attribution, and its FAQ, WP:ATTFAQ.
Recently, on Wikipedia talk:Attribution and on the Wiki-EN-l mailing list, Jimbo questioned whether the result had adequate consensus, and requested:
- "a broad community discussion on this issue", (now taking place at Wikipedia talk:Attribution/Community discussion), followed by
- "a poll to assess the feelings of the community as best we can, and then we can have a final certification of the results." (now being drafted at Wikipedia:Attribution/Poll)
