[edit] Redirects

Hi there. Thanks for your excellent contributions on the Barons West. I noticed that at one point you'd created a redirect to a non-existent page, in preparation for creating the page. I think people sometimes frown on creating redirects to blank pages, even if only for a short time (I've been criticised for it myself). One option is to create the final page first, and then the necessary redirect. Another way to achieve the same result, which I find quicker, is to initially create the article on the page which you want as the redirect, and then immediately move it to its final location, using the "move" button at the top (which creates an automatic redirect on the page you've moved it from). OpenToppedBus - Talk 16:29, Jun 24, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Baron West

No worries, glad to help! The succession box system is somewhat complicated, but until (unlikely) improvements in software it's the best we've got. I suggest having a look at Template talk:Succession box. Best, Mackensen (talk) 6 July 2005 19:50 (UTC)

One other note of clarification. When it's a simple one-to-one box (predecessor, title, heir), we use Template:PeerNavbox instead of the succession boxes. We also don't include the years in which the title was held. Mackensen (talk) 6 July 2005 19:57 (UTC)

[edit] Voting on wikipedia:conlangs has started

Since you've been part of the discussion I thought I'd let you know. Do spread the word to others who would like to vote on it too. --Kaleissin 14:26:36, 2005-08-29 (UTC)

[edit] Income tax

You're welcome. I didn't think to check it was a copyvio until today, either. Hopefully we can do something about that article soon. Mateo SA | talk 23:05, August 30, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Exchange on Congress of the United States

Thank you for your comments about Pmanderson/Septentrionalis/whoever, but I'm not so willing to dismiss him as a misguided "expert". I've responded to his/her condescending and deliberately obtuse remarks on Talk:Congress of the United States and I'll leave it at that. Otherwise, I'll avoid arguing with a user who refuses to actually respond to valid arguments. Mateo SA | talk 18:00, September 2, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Apologies

Hi there, sorry about deleting the link it's just I had no idea you were in the process of creating it, apologies and enjoy your New Years Eve!

Respectfully.... TellyaddictTalk 19:31, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Now I've seen everything

Republicanism ≠ support of a republic. Really. See Talk:James Madison#purple prose. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 06:03, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

As far as I can tell (there's a link to an on-line text of Banning in James Madison, but it's slow), Banning's definition of "republicanism" is the same as everybody else's; it's Rjensen that's OR. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 00:12, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
Pity; then it should be marked. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 18:24, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Unsourced

From my talk page: "I don't follow your addition of an unsourced tag to the constitutionality section of DOMA, since sources are given at the bottom of the article that cover the constitutionality issue. If you are complaining about lack of inline citations, please recall that they are an option, not a requirement of policy. Robert A.West (Talk) 23:57, 10 January 2007 (UTC)"

Really? That's odd, because WP:V says "Any material that is challenged or likely to be challenged needs a reliable source, which should be cited in the article." I think a lot of that section sounds like OR, and I would like to see citations in the article. GertrudeTheTramp 05:26, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
Sorry to confuse you; I had just changed WP:ATT; since it will need to be changed to get me to join the consensus. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 22:19, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Talk:Hannoversch Münden

I know you often disagree with me on naming questions; but your German is better than mine. The standard abbreviation for this town is Hann. Münden, and the town council adopted Hann. Münden as the official name a decade ago. As far as I can see, English usage is, and always has been, simple Münden or Munden, the Hannoversch being to avoid confusion with Minden - not possible in English. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 19:33, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Suggest you reconsider

this. You folks were sniffing up the wrong tree. Best regards // FrankB 01:13, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

Hi, Frank! Frank Bartus is a nice guy, with a touch of dyslexia. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 18:20, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Google

Is not the only resource for information (if its even credible, for that matter) on certain subjects. You seem to have this mentality. Realize that some folk have first hand knowledge in things you're not even apart of. As a resident of the Bucks County area for ten years, I can attest to this and stand by my edits for articles regarding the PA area. Internet source or not.

[edit] Multi-liscense template

Decent call. I changed the result to no consensus. RyanGerbil10(Упражнение В!) 22:17, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] TfD nomination of Template:HistSource

Template:HistSource has been nominated for deletion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the template's entry on the Templates for Deletion page. Thank you.. This is related to the recent Catholic-link TfD. --Stbalbach 23:51, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WP:ATT

Just to forestall your shock at the changes to the page, Steve Block and I decided to use verbatim wording from V and RS in the exceptions section. Yes, the third exception is out at the moment, and one and two have reverted to older wording. The logic is that if we are not actually introducing policy changes, but merely condensing V, RS, and NOR, we might be able to finally move the damn page forward. Marskell 18:02, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

Then what's the point? Septentrionalis PMAnderson 23:43, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Number spiral

You may be interested by this article. It shows that we don't have an article on Robert Sacks, which is a shame; he is as notable as John Boardman, surely. You know the subject and have better access to the sources. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 23:43, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Number spiral merged to Ulam spiral; the last version before the AFD nomination is [1]. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 21:26, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Glupy dupek

Thank you for looking this edit up; would you be willing to cosign an RfC? Septentrionalis PMAnderson 22:36, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Howdy

Hey, I haven't seen you 'round the tax-related articles lately. Regards, Famspear 22:49, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Could you look at something for me?

I don't want to sway you in one direction or the other on this topic, but could I get you to look at this, then give me your honest opinion?

[edit] Wikipedia:Attribution

There has been an extensive effort to combine Wikipedia:Verifiability and Wikipedia:No original research (together with much of Wikipedia:Reliable sources) into a new policy called Wikipedia:Attribution, and its FAQ, WP:ATTFAQ.

Recently, on Wikipedia talk:Attribution and on the Wiki-EN-l mailing list, Jimbo questioned whether the result had adequate consensus, and requested:

You are invited to take part; the community discussion should be as broad as possible. If you wish to invite other experienced and intelligent editors, please use neutral language. This message, for example, is {{ATTCD}}. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 03:35, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
