Rose Almond is a fictional character in Alan Moore's graphic novel, V for Vendetta. She plays a minor but ultimately important role in the comic, but was left out of the 2006 film adaptation.
[edit] In the graphic novel
Rose was married to Derek Almond, chief officer of "The Finger," the Norsefire government's secret police. She had a love/hate relationship with her cold, abusive husband, whom she feared yet stayed with out of a devotion she herself did not understand. When her husband was killed by the novel's main character, a masked terrorist calling himself "V," Rose was quietly pushed away by Derek's successor, Peter Creedy, and denied her share of her husband's estate. Now virtually penniless, she was forced to support herself as an exotic dancer.
Over the next few months, Rose fell into a downward spiral of insomnia and depression. Pushed to the brink by desperation and grief, she began nursing an obsessive hatred of Party leader Adam Susan, whom she blamed for her husband's death and her untouchable status within the Party. Near the end of the novel, she attended a Norsefire rally at which Susan was scheduled to appear, and shot him in the head as he exited his car. She was arrested and presumably executed by "The Finger."
