[edit] F-14 Rover question
I'm guessing the F-14D's LANTIRN pod video was transmitted? I suppose it could be the tactical camera system video, but I'm guessing LANTIRN video. Is there any source on what video was transmitted? --Dual Freq 16:57, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
HJ 17:21, 2 January 2007 (UTC)Source for latest shots of ROVER III and details: [1] Yes, it is the LANTIRN video that is transmitted. ROVER III provides streaming video, which is what makes it so advantageous. Prior to that, Navy F-14 LANTIRN had ability to transmit and receive still imagery using Fast Tactical Imagery (FTI) and Special Forces LVRS system on the ground. Enterprising TOmcat aircrews even figured out how to pass images from aircraft to aircraft. This was used after introduction in late 90s to help satisfy ROE in Operation Southern Watch.
