Royal Rumble match
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Royal Rumble Match is a professional wrestling match that happens every year at the Royal Rumble pay per view.
[edit] Rules
The match starts with 2 people in the ring who are enteries number 1 and 2. Every 90 seconds to 2 minutes, a wrestler enters the ring until 30 men have been in the Rumble. The only way to get eliminated from the Rumble is battle royal style; over the top rope and both feet land on the floor.
[edit] Advantages and Disadvantages
Basically if you have drawn number 1 or 2 you get a small chance of winning. Only 2 people have won the Royal Rumble from Number 1, Shawn Michaels in 1995 and Chris Benoit in 2004. Only 2 people have won from Number 2, Mr McMahon in 1999 and Rey Mysterio in 2006. If you drew number 30 you have the best chance of winning, but only one has won from number 30, The Undertaker in 2007.
[edit] Rewards
The winner gets a WWE title shot at WrestleMania. That was the case since 1993 (before then, winning the Royal Rumble Match would automatically earn you the WWE Title). In 2003, after the WWE Brand Extension, the World Heavyweight Championship (WWE) became available as an alternate choice to the WWE Title and in 2007, the ECW World Championship was included as an alternate choice.
