[edit] Background
"Run to You" is one of many hits on Bryan Adams' biggest-selling album, Reckless (1984), and remains one of Adams' most popular songs to this day. It was written between January 12-14 1983 and includes a famous guitar riff. The song was originally written for producer Bruce Fairbairn who was working with Blue Öyster Cult as a song for their record at the time, but the band turned the song down. The guitar riff is influenced by the one in Blue Öyster Cult's "(Don't Fear) The Reaper". When several other bands turned the song down, Adams decided to record it himself for his album, Reckless, in 1984.
[edit] Themes
The lyrics manifest the dilemma that a man has to go through while making choices. Specifically, the protagonist ponders whether to stay faithful to his current partner or to "run to" his illegitimate partner.
