Rushcreek Township, Logan County, Ohio

Rushcreek Township is one of seventeen townships in Logan County, Ohio, United States. It is located on the northern edge of the county. The village of Rushsylvania lies within Rushcreek Township. The 2000 U.S. Census found 2,191 people in the township.

It borders or touches the following other townships and municipalities:
- Jefferson Township, on the south;
- Lake Township, on the southwest;
- McArthur Township, on the west;
- Richland Township, on the west-northwest;
- McDonald Township, Hardin County, on the northwest (touches, but does not border);
- Taylor Creek Township, Hardin County, on the north;
- Hale Township, Hardin County, on the northeast (touches, but does not border);
- Bokes Creek Township, on the east;
- Perry Township, on the southeast
U.S. Route 68 is the most important highway in Rushcreek Township. Other significant highways include State Routes 47, 273, and 274.
[edit] Name and history
No other township in Ohio bears the name of Rushcreek Township, although there are Rush Townships in Champaign, Scioto, and Tuscarawas counties, and a Rush Creek Township in Fairfield County.
Rushcreek Township was formed in 1827 from Jefferson Township.

The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1. Two are elected in the year after the presidential election and one is elected in the year before it. There is also an elected township clerk, who serves a four-year term beginning on April 1 of the year after the election, which is held in November of the year before the presidential election. Vacancies in the clerkship or on the board of trustees are filled by the remaining trustees.
