Rusyns of Romania
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Rusyns (Rusíni in Rusyn, Ruteni in Romanian) are an ethnic minority in Romania. The 2002 Romanian census counted 61,091 of the related Ukrainian ethnicity, some of whom may be Rusyns (though they did not declare themselves as such). Members of this group live primarily in northwestern Romania, with the largest populations found in Satu Mare and Maramureş counties.
As an officially-recognised ethnic minority, Rusyns have one seat reserved in the Romanian Chamber of Deputies.
