Ruth Vanita

Ruth Vanita (1955-) is an Indian academic, activist and author who specializes in queer and gay studies.
In 1978 in Delhi, Vanita was co-founder of Manushi: A Journal about Women and Society, a pioneering journal that combined academic research and grassroots activism, and also co-editor from 1979 to 1990. [1] She was also an associate professor at Miranda House and in the English Department at the University of Delhi and now is an associate professor at the University of Montana. She is the co-editor of a book that explores the indigenous lesbian and gay heritage of South Asia. (Ayyar)
